Fall 2023
While exploring many Kufi-script mosque designs,
I encountered one, likely of Ottoman origin, that
inspired me to blend it with the concept of complexity
of language. The calligraphy encapsulates the Shahadah,
the fundamental profession of faith in Islam. The versatile
forms of the script can interconnect in various ways,
mirroring the myriad connections found among people,
resulting in a range of unique visual outcomes.
