The Garden

Spring 2026

The Garden: Ornament, Reflection, and the Afterlife of
Modernism
is a wearable, modular necklace inspired by
the eight gates of Paradise in Islamic tradition and the
contemplative landscapes of Mughal miniature paintings.
Each octagonal unit represents a gate, suggesting a
passage toward transcendence. Bridging body and architecture,
and echoing the ordered gardens and reflective symmetry of
Islamic art, the piece extends my exploration of ornament
as a portal between form and meaning—where balance, light,
and the infinite converge.
