Inspired by the tradition of Hurufism, which unveils esoteric and symbolic meanings of the Arabic alphabet, the project culminates in a series of illustrations, a card deck, and an animation piece that explore the zoomorphic and&nbsp; anthropomorphic transformations of letters into flowers, birds, and humans. 2026Screen-printed silver on black paper / &gt; featured in Tasmeem Print Fair 2026 This work uses Arabic letter symbolism to reflect on origin, return, and inner meaning. Two mirrored و face each other. Their curved form recalls the bowed body and the fetal shape, pointing to humility, beginnings, and return. They are not opposites, but two expressions of the same whole, held in balance through mirroring. A single ن stands apart. Its dot shifts from ink to light, turning from a written mark into a source of illumination. The project was conceptually rooted in Ibrah, a custom typeface I developed during my BFA in Graphic Design. Originally created as an experimental exploration of Arabic letterform structur and meaning, Ibrah became the visual foundation for the packaging system. The gift boxes translate the typographic language of Ibrah into a tactile experience, using form, and repetition to echo the spiritual and reflective qualities of Ramadan. The design balances contemporary minimalism with cultural sensitivity, allowing the type to function both as ornament and narrative device. This collaboration allowed me to revisit an earlier academic project and expand it into a real-world application, bridging research-driven type design with institutional branding. <img width="1536" narrate my journey using the metaphor of prayer beads, known as tasbih, instruments crafted for the remembrance of God. Each bead corresponds to a specific city, symbolized by an outlined map. Accompanying these maps is an interactive NFC tag that links to the respective interview, a tribute to the memories etched in each bead. Complementing the diverse mediums of publications, audio recordings, and mapping, I enhanced the project’s narrative with a video presentation. This visual element served as a connection, weaving together interviews, vibrant visuals, and the audified compositions. I became aware of its layered nature—some aspects immediately visible, others subtle and concealed. I translated these observations into a material narrative using glass, engraved wood, and a metal rod. Glass represents moments of openness and clarity, engraved wood reflects hidden traditions and cultural nuance, and the metal rod symbolizes Qatar’s rapidly evolving, industrial cityscape. Illuminated by thousands of LED bulbs, the piece serves as a visual ode to the rooted nature of the Arabic language, emulating the fractal intricacies observed in nature—from the smallest seed to the farthest star. &nbsp;The piece straddles traditional craft and technology presenting unfolding words through the rhythmic glow of LED panels. It embarks on a linguistic journey, commencing with the trilateral root Wajad, unfolding into expressions of&nbsp;Wujood&nbsp;(being or existence) and Wijdan&nbsp;(awareness or consciousness). The&nbsp;Arabic&nbsp;script, often simplified in form to accommodate 20th-century technological constraints, has sometimes lost its spiritual resonance in the process.
